Pops and Aidan Day

Today is "Pops and Aidan Day". You might not find it on your calendar but it is most definitely on ours. Aidan knows that every Tuesday afternoon Pops will pick him up from school and they will get to play together ALL afternoon and if Aidan wants to, he gets to spend the night. Tuesday is a very special day for Aidan, and I'm sure it is a pretty good day for Pops as well.
I spent the morning running errands and painting at the pottery store, DIY Crafts. I did stop by Pops and Namaw's to drop off a change of clothes for Aidan only to spot a curious sight in the front yard. It is train station, fashioned from left-overs found in the garage. Pops is kind of a pushover when it comes to Aidan's big ideas, but I guess that is all part of the fun of being a grandparent. I'm sure that if a 4 year old Derek would have asked to build a train station in the front yard Pops would have told him to "play in the backyard" or "we can't pull all that junk out of the garage". I think Aidan gets to do WAY more than Derek ever even dreamed of doing. Not to mention the fact that Aidan gets to eat in the living room and no one else in the family got to eat in the living room until Aidan came along. Of course that is Namaw being the pushover. But again, that's what grandparents are supposed to do.
I'm sure Aidan is having a wonderful time and he will ask me several times a day for the rest of the week to take him to Pops and Namaw's house. For Aidan, there are not enough Tuesdays in the week.
