Counting down the days!

Aidan is so ready for Christmas. Last night he got to open a present at Namaw's house so now he thinks he should open a present a day until Christmas. I'm not sure where he thinks all these presents are going to come from because there are no presents under our tree. I learned last year not to put gifts under the tree because seeing those presents was too much for Aidan. He drove me crazy asking to open them. It didn't matter if it wasn't his gift, he just wanted someone, anyone to open a present. Learn to pick your battles, and this year I'm avoiding the battle all together.
We had a nice weekend. Our friend Lauren had a birthday party at a store that teaches the kids how to cook, Aidan had a great time making a pizza. He loved goofing off for his friend Maggie even more. When he has a captive audience he is quite the character. One of Derek's friends remarked how much Aidan acts like Derek did when he was younger. I've heard the same comment when we visit Indiana so it must be true. I should go ahead and prepare myself for the next few years when Aidan enters elementary school. It should be interesting!
Derek's sister and her family are in town for the holidays and Aidan has enjoyed spending time with his cousin, Owen. Tonight we went to the zoo for Zoolight Safari. We rode the train first, of course, and attended an animal show. Namaw was not real impressed by the African Hissing cockroaches. Aidan liked the snake and baby alligator and even petted both. Asher slept the entire time. In fact, he slept through almost the entire visit. So much for his first trip to the zoo!
I hope you are having a wonderful Christmas season and I'll keep you posted with our many other events this week!
