summer fun

Last weekend we headed to the lake for some fun with my brother and his family and to hear a friend's band play Saturday night. It was a good time, the kids had a great time playing. It did rain a bit but overall it was a fantastic weekend.
This week started out a bit rocky because Aidan and Asher had check-ups. When I made the appointment, I was told that Aidan would not need shots(yes, I asked). So, I assured Aidan it would be the standard weight, height, blood pressure, hearing and vision checks. Things were good until Dr.Brian told me Aidan needed a booster for his HepA vaccination. Things went downhill VERY quickly. For Aidan, it's not the shot, it's the build-up of how bad it's going to be in his mind. I handed Asher off to another nurse, pinned a screaming, thrashing, crying Aidan to the exam table(I felt like such a terrible mother) and the shot was over. And then he was fine. All smiles and he was saying, "I can't believe how I was acting, that didn't hurt a bit." Yesterday Aidan and Avery were in the back seat of my car and I could hear them discussing their visits to the doctor(Avery is REALLY bad about going to the doctor) and Aidan was re-enacting how he was before the shot. He was waving his arms and yelling. And Avery was telling Aidan that on his last visit, he hid under the table and had to be pulled out and how his mom had to call his dad to come help. But they ended the conversation on a good note, Aidan does not have to get anymore shots until he's 12(excluding flu vaccines but Dr.Brian didn't tell him that) so they were discussing how great that would be. Of course, Avery doesn't know that he needs another booster in 2 months.
