post by embarrassment

I've been out of the internet loop for a week or so, which means I haven't been making my usual blog rounds. I got a chance tonight and what did I discover???? Derek's cousin(hi Bret) has added a feature to his blog links that shows the last blog update. So I have basically been embarrassed into posting an update. Luckily, I will ALWAYS update more frequently than his brother-in-law.

So, why have I been out of the internet loop you ask? Well, it could be the fact that I've spent the last week packing, unpacking and then packing my suitcase. Or it could be that Asher pushed my laptop off the kitchen table and it just happened to land directly on the wireless card. Busted card, busted laptop. So now I am using Derek's laptop with strict instructions that it stays out of Asher's reach of doom.
We spent the 4th in Bedford and had a great visit with Derek's family. Aidan and Asher particularly enjoyed the parade and fireworks that the fair city of Bedford had to offer. The parade was a typical small town parade-several tractors, the 4H Queen and her court, the mayor, several other politicians, or at least people running for political office, a few clowns passing out candy(not the politicians-people in actual clown costumes) some vintage cars, some old ladies in the Red Hat Society, and Aidan's favorite..a blue school bus with hand puppets hanging out the windows that looked as if they were throwing up. I guess you had to be there. The fireworks were pretty good, the music accompanying the show was a bit strange..the theme to ET, the Star Wars theme, a song that I really think was from the movie The Last of the Mohicans, a theme from a Disney movie, and then of course, Lee Greenwood's song God Bless the USA. It was quite an event.

The boys really enjoyed seeing all their cousins. Grant and Brakston are really growing up so fast. Aidan also had a big accomplishment while in Bedford, he jumped off the diving board at the pool! (This is a big deal because he had a terrible diving board experience during a swim class a few years ago) Aidan almost made it down the water slide(we climbed to the top twice) but it was a bit too high. Maybe next summer.

So far this week we are trying to take it easy. Last night Aidan fell on an escalator and did some damage to his lower left leg so he's not up for too much. We took the bandages off tonight which was NO fun. He soaked in the bath for a while but it didn't help much. I finally ended up just snatching the bandages off as quickly as possible. He was not happy.

I'll post pictures at some point, I still have to figure out how to get pictures to the laptop....
