Still here...

OK, so it's been a while. I'm beginning to get emails and phone calls from concerned friends so I had to make the time to update and post. I don't even know where to begin to catch up. In random order, here's what we've been doing for the past few weeks.

Aidan is still enjoying soccer. I was a little concerned when I heard him tell his coach(at the 1st game) that he was not signing up for soccer the next time! He has gotten past that and is doing very well. He still likes to watch his feet as he runs but he does not fall much anymore or should I say throw himself to the ground because someone else fell. I'm not sure where he learned his style of play but during a game he hangs back from the pack of kids going after the ball and waits for the ball to be kicked away from the group and then he runs to the loose ball. It seems to work for him. He still likes to guard the goal and prides himself on kicking the ball away from the opposing team when they get close to his goal. I don't keep score during the games but I learned from a parent that does keep score that we are undefeated. Yeah us. Aidan had Pirate Day at school which he loved. He is now thinking about a pirate birthday party or maybe a monster truck party. I've got lots of ideas for a pirate party, not so many for a monster truck party. Aidan spent the night with a friend last weekend. He had a great time, such a great time that he came home and took a 5 hour nap and still went to bed at the regular bedtime.
Several weeks ago some Indiana relatives came to visit for a long weekend and we had a great time. I actually got to go the mall without the boys and bought a few things just for me! It's the little things in life that excite me. I went shopping with the girls and let me tell you, the girls can shop! I went in stores that I had never been in and probably won't go back to until the next time the girls visit but I enjoyed myself. Aidan's older cousin is a typical fashion conscious teen wearing fashionable jeans with a few holes and Aidan could not get over the fact that she had holes in her pants. He reminded her ever second that her pants had holes and it seemed to be the joke of the entire trip. He still is talking about Kate and her jeans. You just can't expect a 4 1/2 year old to understand fashion.

Asher is growing, and growing. He is making all kinds of noises and he has even rolled from belly to back twice. Of course no one witnessed either event so now I lay him on the floor and stare, waiting for him to roll. He is also teething, which is not pleasant but we are getting through it.
He was the apple of his cousin Abby's eye on Easter Sunday. We went to AC for Easter lunch and Abby thought Asher was her baby. She patted his head, touched his hands, kissed him, held him in her lap and then cried when anyone took Asher away from her. She probably won't like him near as much when he starts crawling. He did grab a fist full of her hair which surprised Abby and shocked her but did not stop her from loving on him! Aidan and Spencer had a great time together. It had been a long time between visits so they had a lot of catching up to do.
We've been to a few birthday parties, Derek went to the NCAA Final game between Ohio State and Florida which he enjoyed, we went to see the Blue Man Group which was interesting. I've never been to a concert where the performers don't talk but it was really amazing.
And today is our 9th anniversary. We will celebrate by Derek taking Aidan to soccer practice while Asher and I go to church for Mission Friends. How much life has changed, but only for the better.

Those are the highlights from the last few weeks. Enjoy the pictures!

Hey guys! I second the Pirate Party!! I don't know how well the Hawkins side of the family spreads news, but in case you haven't heard Gordon and I are engaged! In fact, we are planning on having a "pirate party" wedding reception...but probably not with plastic swords and eye patches like Aidan would have (maybe, there is still time!) Glad you are all doing well.

Erin (Taylor that is)
